Reel script timer

Time your script before you shoot it. Write one line per shot and see each line's length, where the hook runs past three seconds, which lines hold one frame too long, and whether the ending loops back to the start.

Timings come from word count at your pace — close enough to plan the edit, not a substitute for recording it. Time yourself reading once and pick the pace that matches.

Scoring adapted from instagram-agent-skill by Jake Schincariol (MIT), extended for Hinglish and Hindi. Runs in your browser — nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Questions

How long should a Reel be?

+

Most land best between 15 and 45 seconds. Reels can run to three minutes, but almost nobody should use it — and under seven seconds the replays inflate while nothing else does. Short is usually right.

How long should the hook be?

+

Under three seconds — roughly eight words or fewer at a normal pace. Past that, the viewer has already decided whether to stay.

Why does a long line matter?

+

More than about four seconds on one idea with nothing changing on screen is where people leave. Split the line, or change the shot, text or angle inside it.

What is a loop?

+

Ending on a word or line from the hook, so the replay feels seamless. Second watches count as views, so a clean loop is free reach.
