Reel hook checker

A Reel is decided in the first two seconds. Paste the first thing you say — or a few options, one per line — and see which one holds, what's weak about the rest, and what to fix first. English, Hinglish and Hindi all work.

Scores update as you type.

Scoring adapted from instagram-agent-skill by Jake Schincariol (MIT), extended for Hinglish and Hindi. Runs in your browser — nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Questions

What makes a good Reel hook?

+

Five things show up again and again: it's short enough to say in about two seconds (5 to 12 words), it has something concrete in it (a number, a price, a name), something is at stake, the interesting word comes first, and it talks to the person watching. A greeting or a 'today I'll show you' throws all five away.

Can this tell me if my Reel will go viral?

+

No, and nothing that only reads text can. It's good at catching weak hooks before you shoot them. Which of two decent hooks travels is decided by your face, your edit, your audio and who Instagram shows it to — your retention graph is the real judge.

Does it work for Hinglish hooks?

+

Yes. It understands roman Hindi and Devanagari: 'mat karo', 'galti', 'sirf', '₹', lakh and crore count as concrete or at stake, and 'Hello doston, aaj ki video mein…' is flagged as a warm-up just like 'Hey guys, in today's video…'.

Should the spoken hook and the on-screen text be the same?

+

No. On-screen text is read before it's heard, so it should be shorter and blunter — six words or fewer. Write them separately.
